How would a guest describe you after spending a few days traveling with you?
I really wish it were a sentence: „a person who made me really enjoy my trip to Czechia“, because that is really the meaning of my job: to give my guests an unforgettable vacation that they will remember fondly and tell their friends and family about the interesting things they experienced in Czechia
What made you fall in love with Czechia — or keep falling back in love with it?
Everywhere good- at home best – do you know that saying? I think there will be something to it.
I spent several years working and traveling in both Europe and South America, and even though I enjoyed it everywhere, after some time I always loved coming home to my family, friends, nature, and my native language.
I think that only at "home" in Czechia can I really relax and gain strength. I was born here and Czechia is simply my home. But beside this, I have a guilty pleasure about Czechia: I love our beer!
What does being a host mean to you when traveling with guests?
I appreciate every person whose curiosity brings them to the Czech Republic, and as I mentioned before, having traveled a lot, I can imagine how a visitor feels in a foreign country. I really enjoy taking visitors through my country, culture, history, but not only that, the little everyday things are also important, which might remain hidden to guests without a local guide. I actually see the best meaning of my work in that.
Can you share a moment from a journey that really stayed with you?
When we travel, we pass through different villages, my guests try to read the names of the villages in Czech. It's incredibly cute when I listen to them. The most beautiful thing is that they do it completely naturally and absolutely all of them! You will too :-)
How do you know when it’s time to slow down — or simply stay a little longer?
The best way how to know it is just to ask 😊 We are human and each person is unique, so on the journey I often ask „how do you feel? is it okay if we..?“ The journey belongs to the guest and I completely respect their wishes and needs. Rather than fulfilling the prescribed plan at all costs, it is better to communicate and agree on the best for my guest at the given moment. But anyway: a little coffe break is always welcomed with enthussiasm!
What’s a small, everyday Czech moment you love sharing with guests?
I love teaching my guests the basic czech words they can easily learn and immediately practice. I enjoy seeing the sparkle in their eyes when they manage to pronounce a word correctly and maybe even use it in a situation.
If guests remember just one feeling from your tour, what do you hope it will be?
I very hope the feeling will be: „I would love to come back here“ People like to return to places where they felt good. It's not just about actually coming back, it's more about that feeling: “I felt good here”
When I traveled around the world, I visited many countries, and in many of them I wanted to stay longer, learn more, see more places, and when I left, I said to myself: "I will come back here someday." If my guests feel the same way, I will be happy!
